Garden Maintenance and Design

I have been designing and maintaining gardens all over Perth for many years, everything from tiny courtyards for retirees and professionals in Subiaco and Claremont to large commercial and church gardens and lovely residential properties for families in Applecross, Ascot, Mosman Park, Peppermint Grove, City Beach, Wembley, Wembley Downs, Dalkeith, Woodlands, Churchlands, Floreat and down south to Coogee and as far north as Kallaroo.

The Soil Sisters

RADIO

I’m best known for my appearances on 720 ABC Perth talk-back radio each Saturday morning for about four years where my great buddy Sabrina Hahn and I were known as The Soil Sisters and had our audiences (and ourselves) in stitches each Saturday morning while at the same time delivering great practical answers to their gardening questions.

Over the past two years, I have been occasionally sharing the microphone  at 100.1 Curtin FM on ‘Let’s Talk Gardening” with Faye and Rae

During my trip to Chicago in 2018, I was honored to make a guest appearance on Chicago 1590am WCGO radio, The Mike Nowak Show with Peggy Malecki -here’s the link for a listen www.mikenowak.net

Current Board Positions

I sit on the Board as a Regional Director and am a Member of GARDENCOMM Garden Communicators International, the premier organization based in New York, which represents people who communicate about gardens and gardening all over the world.

I have checked out the Frida Kahlo exhibition at the New York Botanic Gardens, The Highline in NYC, Pittsburgh, and Philadelphia gardens and in Phoenix, Arizona for some studies in dry climate gardening.

In March 2018 and 2019, I visited Victoria, to attend The Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show and visit gardens on The Mornington Peninsula to keep up to speed with all the latest design trends and best gardening practices in Australia.

I have visited the home of Prince Charles, Highgrove, and Kew Gardens in London.

Public Speaking

I have spoken at a variety of events such as The Nannup Flower and Garden Festival, Gidgegannup Farm Field Day, ‘Women of The Wheatbelt’ in Meriden, and in Bruce Rock, The Royal Society of WA,  University of the 3rd Age and various corporate events across Western Australia.

I speak at Perth Flower and Garden Show formerly known as Garden Week each year as a member of The Horticulture Media Association.

I judged the Town of Mosman Park garden competition for 5 years.

Community Work

Sabrina Hahn and I worked together in The Kimberley in the North West of Western Australia with EON Foundation creating edible gardens in remote indigenous communities. That was an enormous privilege indeed.

I volunteered as the Chairman of the Parish Council at St Cecilia’s Catholic Parish for many years and continue to provide garden support in that parish.
